Throwback Beyoncé on Tour Moment: If your feed is anything like mine, everyone you know is seeing the Cowboy Carter tour and your Instagram Stories are an entire highlights reel. Day one Hive members will know that before we were dressing up in denim-on-denim, there was one fan whose presence unmoored us all. Anthony Cosby-Knowles.
What is the best part of the video? Bey saying ‘Cual es tu nombre?’ con accento? Anthony handing her his ID? His quick-thinking humor? The band playing the opening notes of Say My Name instantenously? It’s a tough call but I think the most iconic moment is the satisfied face he’s giving at 0:38 seconds. I think about this man all the time.
A Mash-Up with Incredible Follow-Up: Shout out to Canvas who seamlessly mashed up two of the greatest songs of all time, Carl Thomas’s “I Wish” and Paramore’s “Misery Business.” He might have to be a future interviewee for the newsletter because I need to understand the genius mind behind this unexpected collab.
For the music nerds like me, his work and full-length cuts are available on Bandcamp! When I finally get into my DJ-ing bag, aka practicing and ultimately buying a mixer, I will be buying several of his tracks.
Here’s the follow up: another musical genius, Moses Sumney saw the mash-up on TikTok and spotted a comment that said “Hayley Williams would Crip walk to this.” Well… Moses lives up to his biblical name (I haven’t read the bible since college fwiw) because he made a miracle happen. He and Hayley are getting down to this, Crip walking (on water…? was that Moses?), in some sort of hair-salon x creative studio that leaves me with many questions. We need more celebrities in the comments doing things like this. Use your fame for FUN sometimes. It’s dire out here.
TikTok That Embodies My Spirit: I watched this and guffawed laughing, then watched it another ten times. Life is more than semi-charmed when there’s calamari on the menu.
